The blaze was first reported at 2:36 p.m. near Rancho Laguna Road and Morningside Drive, according to local firefighters. Hot and windy weather conditions caused the flames to spread uphill rapidly.
By 2:47 p.m., emergency services expanded evacuation orders to several key neighborhoods. Mandatory evacuations were issued for La Mirada Street, Katella Street and Summit Drive, authorities confirmed. Baja Street was also added to the evacuation list as the fire continued its advance.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire but are urging residents to follow evacuation advisories. Laguna Beach officials have asked residents in the affected zones to vacate immediately for their safety. Shelters and temporary accommodations are being arranged for displaced residents.
